Examines data from clients reported and treated for child abuse and neglect to determine the role of stress in the commission of subsequent acts of abuse and neglect. Results indicate that stressful events and seriousness of the initial abusive incident had significant effects on commission of subsequent abusive and neglectful acts. (BB)

Compares 27 confirmed cases of physical child abuse requiring hospitalization to 105 confirmed cases that did not require hospitalization. Results indicate a significant relationship between the age of the abused child and whether the child was hospitalized. Children under three years were most likely to be hospitalized. (BB)

An Apple II computer was placed in a university laboratory school classroom so that children's natural interaction with a computer could be observed. Detailed observational logs were kept for 39 interactions. Results indicated that computer play is an initial step in computer literacy. (RH)

A computer program, DIAL-LOG, was developed to assist users of DIAL-R, a widely used screening test, in the scoring of young children's performance.
