Raeff, Catherine; Greenfield, Patricia Marks; Quiroz, Blanca
New Directions for Child and Adolescent Development, n87 p59-74 Spr 2000
Examines expressed values among European American and Latino children, their parents, and teachers. Notes the multifaceted nature of individualistic and collectivistic conceptions of relationships and ways in which cultural conflicts may be manifested in children's learning environments. Maintains that individualism and collectivism can be conceptualized as historically constituted value systems that have varied implications for independent and interdependent functioning. (Author/KB)
