Autonomy and Goal Attainment: Parenting, Gender, and Children's Social Competence.
Crockenberg, Susan; And Others
New Directions for Child Development, n73 p41-55 Fall 1996
Examines the influence of parent-child collaboration on children's social competence with peers and the role of parents' and child's gender. Provides evidence that when parents collaborate with children, children's social competence with peers increases and that children's social competence is influenced more by the parent of the same sex than by the parent of the opposite sex.
