Narratives of Adoptive Parents: Perspectives from Individual and Couple Interviews.
Grotevant, Harold D.; Fravel, Deborah Lewis; Gorall, Dean; Piper, Joyce
Monographs of the Society for Research in Child Development, v64 n2 p69-83 1999
Examined family narratives among adoptive parents. Found that individual interviews of parents in open adoptions showed greater narrative coherence than those with parents in mediated adoptions; joint interviews produced greater narrative coherence than individual interviews; more coherence in joint interviews was correlated with partners' greater confirmation of one another in the interview and greater collaboration.
