The Relation between Resource Limitations and Optional Conceptual Processing by Children and Adults.
Ackerman, Brian P.; And Others
Child Development, v60 n5 p1200-11 Oct 1989

Results indicated that contrastive processing facilitates recall, and that difficulty of word identification may limit the extent of optional contrastive processing. (RH)
