Parenting Practices and Peer Group Affiliation in Adolescence.
Brown, B. Bradford; And Others
Child Development, v64 n2 p467-82 Apr 1993

Specific parenting practices, such as monitoring, encouragement of achievement, and joint decision making, were significantly associated with specific adolescent behaviors, such as academic achievement, drug use, and self-reliance.
