Different Reproductive Strategies in Males and Females.
Maccoby, Eleanor E.
Child Development, v62 n4 p676-81 Aug 1991
Comments on Belsky, Steinberg, and Draper's article in this issue. Discusses the claim for a connection of stressful childhood environments and early pubertal maturation. Argues that early puberty need not imply a shift from a "quality" toward a "quantity" reproductive strategy and that nonevolutionary factors can account for precocious sexuality in individuals with stressful childhood histories.
