The Influence of Social-Affective Context on the Formation of Children's Food Preferences.
Birch, Leann Lipps; And Others
Child Development, v51 n3 p856-61 Sep 1980
Results indicated that presenting foods to preschool children as rewards or presenting them noncontingently paired with adult attention produced significant increases in preference. Effects persisted for at least six weeks following termination of the presentations. No consistent changes in preference were noted when the foods were presented in a nonsocial context or at snacktime. (Author/RH)
