Biobehavioral Organization in Securely and Insecurely Attached Infants.
Spangler, G.; Grossmann, K. E.
Child Development, v64 n5 p1439-50 Oct 1993
A biobehavioral perspective may help settle disagreements about the validity and interpretation of infants' different behavioral patterns of attachment. A study of 41 infants demonstrated that insecure-avoidant infants, despite showing less overt distress after short separations from their mother than secure infants, exhibited arousal patterns as indicated by overall cardiac measures similar to those of secure infants during separation.
