Young Children's Disambiguation of Object Name Reference.
Merriman, William E.; Schuster, Joneen M.
Child Development, v62 n6 p1288-1301 Dec 1991

This result suggests that children have both an attraction for novel items and a tendency to honor lexical principles. (BC)
