Intersensory Interaction in Newborns: Modification of Visual Preferences Following Exposure to Sound.
Lewkowicz, David J.; Turkewitz, Gerald
Child Development, v52 n3 p827-32 Sep 1981
Investigates intersensory interaction between auditory and visual stimulation in newborn infants. Following auditory stimulation, newborns' visual preferences for light patches of different intensity were examined. Results indicate that newborns attend to quantitative variations in stimulation and that these variations reflect both the objective stimulus intensity and organismic factors. (Author/RH)
