Body Parts as Numerals: A Developmental Analysis of Numeration among the Oksapmin in Papua New Guinea.
Saxe, Geoffrey B.
Child Development, v52 n1 p306-16 Mar 1981

A third study shows that this general change is manifested in culturally specific ways. (Author/RH)
