Self-Recognition in Young Children Using Delayed versus Live Feedback: Evidence of a Developmental Asynchrony.
Povinelli, Daniel J.; And Others
Child Development, v67 n4 p1540-54 Aug 1996
Investigated the ability of young children to recognize themselves in delayed videotapes and recent photographs. Results suggested a significant developmental delay in young children's success on mark tests of self-recognition using delayed feedback as compared to live feedback, which may have important implications for characterizing the development of the temporal dimension of young children's self-concepts.
