Openness in Adoption and the Level of Child Participation.

A total of 171 adopted children aged 4-12 were assessed on how their participation in the adoption process influenced their understanding of adoption, general self-worth, satisfaction with the level of openness, and curiosity about birth parents. Results indicated that greater openness about birth parents did not confuse children about the meaning of adoption or lower their self-esteem. (MDM)
