Factors Related to Parenting Behavior in a Sample of Adolescent Mothers with Two-Year-Old Children.
Chen, Fu-Mei; Luster, Tom
Early Child Development and Care, v153 p103-19 Jun 1999
Examined factors predicting parenting behavior of adolescent mothers of 24-month olds in a family-support program. Found that teens providing higher quality care had more positive childrearing beliefs, were less psychologically distressed, perceived their children as less irritable, and lived in higher quality neighborhoods than those providing lower quality care. Childrearing beliefs, ethnicity, and psychological distress predicted parenting behavior ratings. (Author/KB)
