Sensitivity and Attachment: Next Steps for Developmentalists.
van den Boom, Dymphna C.
Child Development, v68 n4 p592-94 Aug 1997
Focuses on definition of sensitivity, developmental changes in sensitivity, and clinical implications of attachment. Maintains that promptness, consistency, and appropriateness are the main components of sensitivity across parenting dimensions. Suggests that studying infant antecedents to attachment security is equally important to that of parent antecedents. Suggests that focusing on developmental change can yield helpful information for developing intervention programs. (Author/KB)
