The Psychological Adjustment of United States Adopted Adolescents and Their Nonadopted Siblings.
Sharma, Anu R.; McGue, Matthew K.; Benson, Peter L.
Child Development, v69 n3 p791-802 Jun 1998
Compared psychological adjustment of adopted adolescents and their siblings born to adoptive parents. Found poorer adoptee adjustment in areas of delinquency, licit drug use, and school adjustment. Nonclinically referred adopted boys were better adjusted than norm subjects on withdrawal; nonreferred adopted girls were better adjusted on social problems and withdrawal, less so on delinquent and externalizing behaviors.
