Relational Self-Worth: Differences in Perceived Worth as a Person across Interpersonal Contexts among Adolescents.
Harter, Susan; Waters, Patricia; Whitesell, Nancy R.
Child Development, v69 n3 p756-66 Jun 1998
Investigated hypothesis that individuals evaluate self-worth differently across relational contexts while holding perceptions of global self-worth. Found that adolescents' self-worth perceptions varied across contexts. Support in a given context was more highly correlated with relational self-worth in the corresponding context than in other contexts. Subgroups were formed based upon high correlations between self-worth in one context and global self-worth. (Author/KB)
