Correlates of Attachment at School Age: Maternal Reported Stress, Mother-Child Interaction, and Behavior Problems.
Moss, Ellen; Rousseau, Denise; Parent, Sophie; St-Laurent, Diane; Saintonge, Julie
Child Development, v69 n5 p1390-1405 Oct 1998
Examined contributions of attachment, maternal-reported stress, and mother-child interaction to the prediction of teacher-reported behavior problems in 121 French-Canadian children. Security of attachment significantly predicted likelihood of behavior problems: insecure children labeled controlling or other were most at risk for externalizing/internalizing problems across both age periods. Patterns of maternal stress and mother-child interactions differed across attachment groups. (EV)
