Family Influences on Adaptive Development in Young Children with Down Syndrome.
Hauser-Cram, Penny; And Others
Child Development, v70 n4 p979-89 Jul-Aug 1999
Investigated the extent to which family environment predicted differences in trajectories of adaptive development in young children with Down syndrome. Found that growth in communication, daily living skills, and socialization domains were predicted by family cohesion and mother/child interaction beyond that predicted by maternal education. Bailey MDI measures during infancy did not predict changes in adaptive development. (Author/KB)
