Associations among Family Relationships, Antisocial Peers, and Adolescents' Externalizing Behaviors: Gender and Family Type Differences.
Kim, Jungmeen E.; Hetherington, E. Mavis; Reiss, David
Child Development, v70 n5 p1209-30 Sep-Oct 1999
Investigated relations among parenting, sibling relationship, peer group, and adolescents' externalizing behaviors. Found that contributions of parental negativity, parental monitoring, and sibling negativity to adolescents' externalizing behaviors operated directly and also indirectly through deviant peer associations. Relationships varied as a function of family type and adolescent gender. (Author/KB)
