Parent and Peer Contexts for Children's Moral Reasoning Development.
Walker, Lawrence J.; Hennig, Karl H.; Krettenauer, Tobias
Child Development, v71 n4 p1033-48 Jul-Aug 2000
Examined predictors of children's moral reasoning development over 4-year period. Found that parental and friend interaction during moral conflict discussions influenced development differently. Minimal moral development was predicted by friends' cognitive challenges to the target child's moral reasoning and by parents' interfering interactions. Interfering interactions with friends were associated with more rapid developmental rates. (KB)
