The Promise of Dynamic Systems Approaches for an Integrated Account of Human Development.
Lewis, Marc D.
Child Development, v71 n1 p36-43 Jan-Feb 2000
Argues that dynamic systems approaches may provide an explanatory framework based on general scientific principles for developmental psychology, using principles of self-organization to explain how novel forms emerge without predetermination and become increasingly complex with development. Contends that self-organization provides a single explanation for multiple facets of development, integrating diverse developmental viewpoints within a larger scientific perspective. (Author/KB)
