"I Got Some Swords and You're Dead!": Violent Fantasy, Antisocial Behavior, Friendship, and Moral Sensibility in Young Children.
Dunn, Judy; Hughes, Claire
Child Development, v72 n2 p491-505 Mar-Apr 2001
Investigated relations between interest in violent fantasy at age 4 years and children's social understanding, behavior, and interactions with friends 2 years later. Found that "hard-to-manage" children showed higher rates of violent fantasy. Across both groups, violent fantasy was related to later poor executive control and language ability, frequent antisocial behavior, anger displays, and less empathic moral sensibility. (Author/KB)
