General university goals, especially that of public service, presumably legitimize extension's function. Results of a study of 1,275 individuals receiving undergraduate degrees at the University of Victoria in May 1986 showed considerable shifting between full- and part-time status among all students during degree completion and a pronounced shift toward part-time status as graduation neared. (JOW)
