Responding to Students' Art from Your Heart
Clements, Robert D.
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v107 n4 p8 Dec 2007
Teachers often hurry from student to student giving out encouraging comments: "Nice," "Good work," "I like your picture." However, the author believes that a more honest kind of art discourse based upon the teachers' feelings will bring both the students and the teacher more satisfaction if they respond to the students' efforts not from their head, but from their heart. Stating their feelings and needs and asking for the other's response brings about a meaningful dialogue, more between equals, and less between a judge and one judged. (Contains 1 resource.)
