Haring-Inspired Designs
Corfield, Marie
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v106 n8 p60-61 Apr 2007
While exploring Keith Haring's Web site one day, the author discovered two untitled pieces from 1982 that became inspiration pieces for a lesson on symmetry and complementary colors for her second graders. Haring's simple shapes and colors and playful images are very similar to those found in the margins or on the cover of any typical child's notebook. In this article, the author describes an art lesson using Haring-inspired designs. This lesson came together very quickly and the kids loved it. When students can connect with an artist, they make artwork that they can connect to and can feel good about. (Contains 1 online resource.)
