Questor's Question
Erickson, Mary; Dock, Michelle Nichols; Eldridge, Laurie
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v109 n2 p44-45 Oct 2009
Questor is a curious little bird whose four broad questions are helpful to anyone interested in making art or understanding the art of others. He was designed as a character in an online video for children, "Building on a River: Questor's Tale." The video is narrated by Questor, who relates the 2000 year history of architecture along the Salt River, where the Tempe Center for the Arts now stands. In the video, he also introduces four inquiry directions as they apply to each work of architecture. This article presents Questor's questions for making art and understanding art. When students look, think, and ask key questions while exploring art, they can improve each of those experiences and see the connections between processes. (Contains 2 online resources.)
