The author's second-grade students were completing a unit in their classroom on fairy tales. The author was asked to come up with a coinciding project to emphasize the imaginative and magical aura of fairy tales. A few years ago, the author attended the Philadelphia Flower Show where the theme was Ireland. Among the outstanding landscape exhibits were little gnome homes "planted" among the vegetation. In this article, the author describes a project she developed that allows students to create and design a gnome home. (Contains 1 online resource.)
