Dinner Party for an Artist
Bryden, Nancy
School Arts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v103 n5 p42 Jan 2004
Students analyze common characteristics of visual arts evident across time and among cultural/ethnic groups to formulate analyses, evaluations, and interpretations of meaning. One challenge in teaching tenth grade students who come from very diverse backgrounds is how to introduce them to a variety of artists within a five-month semester system. Hence, the Dinner for an Artist problem was developed. The goals were for students to research well-known masters and contemporary artists, use technology as a resource, and present findings in a group installation. The Dinner for an Artist activity is described in this article.
