"From Good to Great--Stevenson Grows Wild" was an art and ecology project created by the teachers, students, and staff at Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary School in Grandview Heights, Ohio, in Spring 2002. This schoolyard habitat redevelopment was organized by the school librarian, three fourth-grade teachers, a graduate student, and the author of this article, a professor. In this brief article, the author describes how they made Stevenson into a school habitat for wildlife, and how readers of this article can do the same for their school. After defining "habitat" and "biodiversity," the author describes three steps in getting started: (1) Assess Your Schoolyard Habitat Spaces; (2) Provide the Four Basic Elements; and (3) Practice Habitat Care in Your Own Community.
