Imprinted Clay Coil Vessels
Lohr, Tresa Rae
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v106 n4 p20-21 Dec 2006
The author teaches clay vessel construction in the fifth grade, and it is amazing what can be accomplished in one forty-five minute period when the expectations are clarified in the initial lesson. The author introduces clay coil vessels with a discussion of the sources of clay and how clay relates to fifth-grade science curriculum concepts such as crust, mantle, and core. In this article, the author demonstrates how to begin a clay coil vessel lesson. The author considers this lesson as one of her success lessons where every single child is proud of his or her creation. (Contains 1 online resource.)
