The Effects of the Primarily Oral Function of American Lithuanian on American Lithuanian Writing.
Artiz, Jolanta
Issues in Applied Linguistics, v12 n2 p171-86 Dec 2001
Examines writing in Lithuanian, a language that has received little scholarly attention in the West and particularly the variety of Lithuanian used by the Lithuanian immigrant community in the United States. Examines articles from both Lithuanian and American Lithuanian newspapers to see how the written American variety differs from native norms in aspects such as the word order and heavy use of pronouns in place of fill noun phrases.
