Examined time spent in interaction by students and teachers in the classroom and patterns of question and answer through classroom observations. Results showed that much of class time is devoted to teacher talk rather than to student talk. The majority of questions asked by the teacher were of the display type, while the responses of the students were of the restricted nature. (Author/VWL)
