Kao, Grace; Tienda, Marta
American Journal of Education, v106 n3 p349-84 May 1998
Using the National Education Longitudinal Study of 1988, analyzes how educational aspirations are formed and maintained from 8th to 12th grades. Results suggest that family socioeconomic status contributes to ambitious aspirations in grade eight and to the maintenance of high aspirations for minorities and low-income students. (SLD)
