Sexuality Education in Video Games: Recommendations for the Use of Video Games to Teach Human Sexuality Issues
Gross, M. Scott
American Journal of Sexuality Education, v1 n1 p51-61 Dec 2005
This article provides a review of some of the currently available literature surrounding the academic study of video games. Many of these theoretical methods have been used to study film and television and are discussed here in order to frame the need for further examination of video games. Suggestions for the use of video games in the classroom and suggestions for further areas of study are included. Specific focus is on the topics of gender, gender roles, and the stereotypes commonly held by American culture at large about gender and gender roles. Demographic information about video game players and a brief resource list are also included.
