A testing mechanism that provides a closer approximation than traditional testing of the frequency and random manner with which disease state and therapeutic problems present in practice was developed with the initiation of self-directed study courses in pharmacy therapeutics. The rationales, construction, and application of this model for evaluating student performance are presented. (LBH)
