The current state of research by the authors into the development of a peer evaluation instrument for faculty is reported. Appraisal areas include: clarity and appropriateness of course objectives; agreement between objectives and course content; instructional material; mastery of content; communication skills; student encouragement; organization; time use; availability; and appropriateness of tests.
