Undergraduate pharmacy education at the University of New Mexico includes a fifth-year optional curriculum in radiopharmacy. Described is a course in pathophysiology and pharmacotherapeutics, designed to provide a knowledge base for clinical pharmacy activities, and taught by clinical pharmacy faculty and physicians at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. The historical evolution of academic due process, its current concept as revealed in the Supreme Court ruling in Horowitz vs Board of Curators of the University of Missouri, and the application of that judicial opinion to clinical clerkship programs in pharmacy are discussed. As part of a larger longitudinal study to analyze the career development process in pharmacy at the University of California, demographic, attitudinal, and prior academic achievement data were collected from first-year students during 1971-1974. The additive value of the PCAT when directly contrasted with existing variables was assessed. (LBH)

A preliminary attempt is made in this study to generate supporting information that could give an admission committee additional insight into the validity of admission criteria currently used in colleges of pharmacy. Data from students at the University of Florida and other Florida institutions are used to predict future grade point average. (LBH)

Senior pharmacy students' perceptions prior to and after clinical experience were examined as they rated the occupations of BS pharmacist, PharmD pharmacist, physician, and nurse in one of three teaching hospitals in which the clinical course was conducted. The clinical experience did not significantly change students' previous perceptions. (LBH)

Undergraduates of a British school of pharmacy rated 43 statements describing the characteristics exhibited by an ideal professor, and the results showed a high correlation to those obtained in an identical survey 10 years before. U.S. colleges of pharmacy were surveyed in 1976 to determine whether a trend exists in continuing, discontinuing, or restructuring laboratory time in pharmaceutical education. To meet the needs of dental patients for pharmaceutical services, dental schools have upgraded their emphasis in teaching pharmacology and the professional associations have developed liaison between each other. This survey examines the nature and extent of pharmacy colleges' involvement with dentistry. (LBH)

The predictive validity of the PCAT-Arithmetic Skills and PCAT-Mathematical Reasoning portions of the PCAT is questioned as applied to pharmacy students at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. (LBH)
