The Decline of the Classroom and the Chicago Study of Education, 1909-1929.
White, Woodie T., Jr.
American Journal of Education, v90 n2 p144-74 Feb 1982
Argues that the education curriculum at the University of Chicago under the direction of Dewey's successor, Charles Judd, became specialized and fragmented to meet the needs of White male educators for a more acceptable career identity far removed from that of the public school teacher in a classroom, and thus undermined the development of a unified study of education.
