The Actual Objectives of the Present-Day High School (Vol. 29, 1921).
Bobbitt, Franklin
American Journal of Education, v91 n4 p450-67 Aug 1983
In 1918, a report was issued that organized educational objectives around "Seven Cardinal Principles": vocation, citizenship, health, worthy use of leisure, command of fundamental processes, worthy home membership, and ethical character. This article examines the extent to which curricula of a random sample of high schools during that period actually adhered to these principles. (GC)
