An interactive computer controlled audiovisual system has been used to investigate the acquisition of simple reading tasks and the assessment of bimodal (auditory-speech reading) interactions/interferences with severely hearing impaired preschoolers. It is noted that the system's capabilities exceed the parameters of current investigations. (Author/CL)
