Development of Criteria to Measure the Extent of Implementation and the Effectiveness of Demonstration in Vocational Education. Case Studies.
Development Associates, Inc., Arlington, VA.
This document presents case studies of eight demonstration projects selected to assess the practicality and feasibility of a monograph for improving and measuring the impact of vocational education demonstration projects. An introduction provides background of the project that developed that monograph and information on the case studies, including selection and procedures. The case studies themselves follow. Each includes a project description (target area and population, goals and objectives, project activities administrative structure, dissemination activities, adoptions), evidence of impact (interim acceptable evidence, final acceptable evidence), contributions to project success and improved impact, and alternative timing options. These projects are included: Demonstration of the National Institute of Education's Experience-Based Career Education (EBCE) Program, Portland, Oregon; EBCE in Cooperative Education and Work Experience, Norman, Oklahoma; Wayne Design for Career Education, Wayne, New Jersey; Career Ladder Infusion Model Building, Garden Grove, California; EBCE for Mentally Disabled Students, Fort Dodge, Iowa; Solar Energy in the Building Trades, Falmouth, Maine; FACIT: Florida's Approach to Competency-Based Individual Teaching, Tallahassee, Florida; and Preferred Learning Styles of Vocational Education Students, Appleton, Wisconsin. A final section summarizes the eight case studies and discusses implications for the monograph. (YLB)
