This instructional manual contains 11 learning activity packets for use in a workshop on photovoltaic converters. The lessons cover the following topics: introduction; solar radiation--input for photovoltaic converters; photovoltaic cells; solar electric generator systems; characteristics of silicon cells; photovoltaic module source resistance; photovoltaic converter output--fix position, Azimuth tracking, and storage system; and photovoltaic converter efficiency. Each learning activity packet lists prerequisites, purpose, and competencies to be developed and contains information sheets, illustrations, and learning activities. A list of equipment needed in a photovoltaic mobile teaching laboratory and information about operation and design of solar electric generator systems also are included in the manual. (KC)
