EASY AT-Food for Thought: The Minibook
Schoonover, Judith
Journal of Occupational Therapy, Schools & Early Intervention, v8 n3 p211-215 2015
Not all technology requires plugs, batteries, or software updates. Sometimes the simplest tools can make all the difference in the world, and open doors (and minds) to other possibilities. One such tool is a minibook constructed by a single sheet of cleverly folded paper. A minibook is a cost-effective, easy to revise and replace, three-dimensional booklet used to organize print and/or pictures in a sequential arrangement that allows a step-by-step management of information. There are many usages for these ingenious little booklets. Minibooks can be employed to organize, display, arrange, and structure targeted concepts, providing the information page-by-page. Occupational therapy practitioners are uniquely qualified to use their problem-solving and task analysis skills to create simple tools such as minibooks out of easily found materials, exemplifying the use of everyday activities, often made possible by tools or alternative methodologies, to facilitate participation in life roles (AOTA, 2010).
