Koury, Regina; Francis, Marcia J.; Gray, Catherine J.; Jardine, Spencer J.; Guo, Ruiling
Journal of Library & Information Services In Distance Learning, v4 n4 p208-218 2010
In order to reach distance students in times of financial uncertainty, librarians must be creative. While much has been written about Camtasia, Captivate and Jing tutorial software, Adobe Presenter, a Microsoft PowerPoint plug-in, has not been discussed. This article describes how our library team created multimedia tutorial projects at Idaho State University, including background, software selection, timeline, design tips, compliance with Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, tutorial evaluation, and marketing. We explore the merits and disadvantages of this plug-in as a tool to bridge the gaps between library instructors and distance students. (Contains 2 figures.)
