School Social Workers' Intent to Stay
Caselman, Tonia D.; Brandt, Mary D.
School Social Work Journal, v31 n2 p33-48 Spr 2007
This study presents findings from a survey that examined school social workers' intent to stay in the field of school social work. Forty-eight school social workers from a midwestern state participated in the study. Effect size estimates were used to examine the relationship between social workers' intent to stay and years of experience, collaboration with school personnel, and self-efficacy. Differences between masters-level social workers and bachelors-level social workers' intent to stay were also examined. Findings suggest that collaboration with school personnel, self-efficacy, and possession of an MSW are important factors in school social workers' intent to stay in the field. Years of experience was not found to be an important factor in social workers' intent to stay. (Contains 3 tables.)
