Policies and Practices in Educational Gerontology in Taiwan
Lin, Yi-Yin; Huang, Chin-Shan
Educational Gerontology, v39 n4 p228-240 2013
Policy on educational gerontology seems a relatively recent subfield in most countries' social policies. The concept of education for older adults did not appear in Taiwan's political discourse until 1980. The purposes of this paper are to provide an overall introduction to the development of educational gerontology policies and practices in Taiwan and to discuss the challenges and implications for future policy agendas. In this paper, first, we address the development of policies and practices in educational gerontology in Taiwan. Second, we explain the current major legislation and programs of educational gerontology. Lastly, this paper criticizes the current policies and practices and envisions the future policies and practices of educational gerontology in Taiwan. (Contains 1 figure and 1 table.)
