Included in this booklet are nine papers reflecting the social work profession's engagement in the effort to deal with a variety of problems experienced by families and cultural minorities. Covered by individual papers are the following topics: (1) prevention of the troubled marital relationships that are sometimes brought on by the birth of the first child; (2) the importance of family participation within residential treatment programs for children; (3) the development of programs for the treatment of intrafamilial child sexual abuse; (4) social work practice with Asian-American families; (5) helping troubled teenagers in blended and single-parent families; (6) the effectiveness of two different social work models for the treatment of abusive families; (7) the use of social network interventions with Mexican-American families; (8) the provision of court services to couples with marital problems; and (9) the Widow-Widower Outreach Program, a mutual help program providing supportive services to the newly widowed elderly in a Jewish community.
