Reflections on Generativity and Flourishing: A Response to Snow's Kohlberg Memorial Lecture
Snarey, John
Journal of Moral Education, v44 n3 p284-290 2015
In his response to Nancy's Snow's "Generativity and Flourishing" (EJ1077701), John Snarey proposes that during the first seasons of one's life one is nurtured by one's parents, but during the latter seasons of life, one is nurtured by one's children. Generative parents interact with their offspring in ways that offer valuable support for their children's development but, concurrently, children also have a way of contributing to their parents' development, a way of requiring them to become more mature adults. Herein, Snarey limits his comments to Snow's psychology while addressing several points in her article needing clarification.
